1 The High 5 rate shown above is correct as at 16 May 2012 and subject to variation. AER stands for the Annual Equivalent Rate and illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once a year. ‘Gross’ is the interest rate paid before the deduction of tax.

The AER applicable to the account for each week will be equal to the average of the five highest gross interest rates from the relevant categories of accounts as certified to us in writing by Moneyfacts Group plc. The relevant categories of account are no notice, 7, 30, 60, 90 and 90+ day notice accounts. No more than one product for any bank, building society or financial institution may be taken into account in calculating the AER.
